Casa Cody // Palm Springs, CA

The oldest operating hotel in Palm Springs founded by female pioneer, Harriet Cody in the early 1900’s.  Harriet established a horse stable on-site in the early days under the San Jacinto mountains; mail was once addressed to The Little Hotel by the Mountains with the Hummingbirds. Legends such as Charlie Chaplin, Anais Nin and Lois Kellogg were said to throw soirees in the still existing Adobe House, built by opera singer Lawrence Tibbet.

Using these characters as inspiration and working closely with the city’s Historic Board to ensure the integrity of the several era’d buildings were maintained, Casa Cody was restored and redesigned to bring it new life as a premier boutique hotel.  In partnership with design firm Electric Bowery, 30 guest rooms were re-designed to maintain the residential nature of the property, while upgrading amenities.

The scope of the project included full renovation of guest rooms furniture, finishes, and art, an updated landscape plan which maintained the several mature fruit trees on site with added indigenous plantings, updated ground coverings to create consistency in exterior pathways and a new signage program. In addition, a re-envisioning of a former back-of house space which was converted into the current Front Desk integrated into a Marketplace where guests can now peruse local goods, Casetta brand items, and order poolside snacks and cocktails.

An entire re-brand of collateral, logo, brand voice, uniforms, guest experience and staff training made the vision complete.
